Pam King
Pam King likes to say her career in art began when she was just nine years old, fondly recalling how a family friend—a portrait artist in Pacific Grove, California—recognized her natural ability and became her first mentor. That early encouragement planted the seed of a lifelong passion for drawing and design.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Pam has lived in the Mendocino area since 1970. She attended San Diego State College, studying fashion design, and although she values her formal training, she takes pride in being largely self-taught, refining her skills through exploration and practice. A longtime fascination with the artistry of the Orient has deeply influenced her style; she is drawn to its textures, spatial balance, and understated elegance.
Over the years, Pam has built a career as a commissioned artist, creating work for clients ranging from Bank of America to a variety of design firms. For a decade, she worked with Mendocino’s wildlife gallery as both an exhibiting artist and salesperson, and her work has also been shown at Gallery One. She continues to mount exhibitions whenever she has a collection that feels complete.
Whether through gallery representation, design partnerships, or private commissions, Pam’s art has consistently reflected both her professional skill and her personal fascination with cultural artistry.
From a child sketching under the guidance of a family friend to a seasoned artist whose work has graced galleries and interiors alike, Pam’s journey is a testament to the power of curiosity, mentorship, and lifelong dedication to her craft.
